About Stanford Blyth Fund
Price is what you pay; value is what you get.
-WARREN Buffett, 2019
Investing is at its core a knowledge-seeking and decision-making endeavor. The Blyth Fund serves to provide students a chance to try their hands at active investing. Through managing the Fund’s portfolio, we hope to take the first steps in building our frameworks of thought and our maturity as future investors.
The Fund focuses on fundamental strategies driven by deep and thorough research, but will at times leverage quantitative approaches to aid our analysis. We hold a concentrated portfolio and look for opportunities where we have sufficient edge to form differentiated views. These may include:
1. Businesses with complex technologies and engineering solutions
2. Small-cap companies and illiquid situations
3. Industries in which members have special experiences
The Fund is open to all students who show continued interest, and is structured as investment teams of 4-7 people, each led by a Portfolio Manager. We also hold general meetings and educational sessions for those who desire a lower level of commitment. Further, we maintain an open-membership policy and encourage all Stanford students to participate, regardless of experience in the financial services industry.
